The success of each design is due to the skill of the designer combined with a good working relationship with the client; it is not just the result of expensive features included in the design. At Imagine Garden Design we aim to create the best garden that you can afford. A beautiful garden designed especially for you and your site takes time and does not happen overnight, whatever television may seem to show! For these reasons the creation of your dream garden takes time and resources.

The design of a garden is a process that is best understood as progressing in stages. Stage 1, listed below, is to identify the client’s requirements and the overall budget for the garden. It does not necessarily lead further. At this stage we at Imagine Garden Design will write a letter covering the extent of the brief and our fees for the design of the garden. It is at this point that you choose whether or not to commission us. The cost for Stages 2, 3 and 4 vary according to the complexity of the design and not necessarily the size of the garden. The design fee is paid in three parts after the successful completion of each stage. Stages 5 & 6 are additional optional stages and can be agreed upon during the consultation process.

Stage 1: Initial consultation (at client's home) £70 fee payable during the consultation. This fee is deducted from the overall price when we are commissioned.

Commission

Stage 2: Production of a brief, site evaluation and analysis.

Stage 3: Sketch/concept design with samples of proposed materials/plants and a rough estimate of cost.

Stage 4: Final design including Master plan, section(s) and/or sketches, and a planting plan.

Additional optional stages

Stage 5: Project management: appointment of builders & landscapers on behalf of the client; liaison with contractors and overseeing construction on site.

Stage 6: Production of a maintenance plan and/or appointing of a garden maintenance contractor.

Design Cost

The fee for the design of a country garden will be in the region of £1,500-2,500. This fee as detailed above includes the production of a brief, a site analysis, a concept plan, a master plan and sections, and a planting plan. It does not include a survey, this should be carried out by a professional surveyor. For larger gardens or a more complicated brief, this fee range will be higher.
The fee for the design of an average suburban garden or a city courtyard garden will be in the range of £900-1500 to produce a brief, a sketch plan, a master plan and section or elevation and a planting plan. The fees given above include all associated office costs.

All design fees are detailed to clients before any work is undertaken. There are no nasty surprises!
